CALEB ‘FRANK’ SMITH, JR.

Caleb “Frank” Smith, Jr., age 66, a resident of Patterson since the early 1960s, died Monday, November 22, 2010, at Manhattan VA Hospital.

Mr. Smith was born on January 23, 1944, in Brewster to the late Caleb F. Smith and Mary (Schaniel) Beckey. He was pre-deceased by his stepfather Louis Beckey. Mr. Smith served in the Navy from 1961 to 1965 aboard the aircraft carrier USS Enterprise. He was very proud of his years in the Navy.

Mr. Smith married Rose Sacco on January 28, 1967, at the Pawling United Methodist Church.

Mr. Smith was a field service engineer for Hipotronics (a high power equipment company) in Brewster for over 32 years. He was a former coach and treasurer of the Patterson Little League, as well as treasurer for many of the organizations he participated in, including his bowling and men’s softball leagues. Mr. Smith assisted with many fundraisers for these organizations, as well.

He also enjoyed golf, hunting, and was an avid Yankees and Buffalo Bills Fan.

Mr. Smith is survived by his son, Caleb ‘Frank’ Smith, III, and his wife Tammy of Patterson; his daughter, Tammy Bosser and her husband Rich of Wingdale; a brother, Robert Smith of Patterson; and a sister, Rosemary Wood of Dover Plains, as well as four grandchildren—Megan, Amber, Courtney, and Richie.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, November 27, 10am, at Dwyer Funeral Home, 23 South Street, Patterson. There will be a private cremation following.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm.
