Susan DiRienzo Passes Away at 62

ERIc GROSS

Family and friends are mourning the passing of Susan DiRienzo of Carmel, who died earlier this month on her 62nd birthday.

DiRienzo was the daughter of Veronica and William Celona of Eastchester. Family members recalled last week how Susan spent happy summers at Peach Lake in Southeast, boating and enjoying life.

In the mid 1990s when her husband, Louis DiRienzo, passed away, Susan moved with her sons to Carmel, where she worked for the Town of Kent.

David DiRienzo, a captain with the Carmel Fire Department and a Mt. Kisco police officer, remembered his mother as a “special woman. Family always came first. Mom had a great love for children and animals and she always looked forward for family gatherings and weekly visits with her mother-in-law.”

Susan is also survived by another son—Louis—who resides in Indiana; her granddaughter, Victoria; two sisters; two brothers; her mother-inlaw; and many nieces and nephews.

David said his mom is “dearly missed but she will remain alive in our hearts forever.”

Susan DiRienzo was laid to rest at the Holy Sepulchre cemetery in New Rochelle following a funeral Mass at St. Francis Church in Mt. Kisco.

“Thanksgiving dinners take eighteen hours to prepare. They are consumed in twelve minutes. Half-times take twelve minutes. This is not coincidence.” ~Erma Bombeck
