AUGUST J. GROSS, JR.

August J. Gross, Jr. passed away on November 29, 2010, surrounded by his loving family. August was born on April 7, 1942, in the Bronx, New York, to August, Sr. and Monica (Porcelli) Gross. During the Vietnam era he proudly served his country with the U.S. Army, August was a true patriot and loved his country dearly. On May 28, 1979, he married Rita Balzarini in New York City. Mr. Gross was a bus operator for Manhattan and Bronx Surface Transit Operating Authority (MABSTOA) from 1972, and retired in 1993. He is survived by his beloved wife, Rita; his two loving step-children Michael Falcaro and daughter-in-law Cindy, Dina Bocchino and son-in-law Ike; his two brothers, Alexander Gross and Walter Gross; his sister Alice Santobello; his three adoring grandchilden Alison Falcaro, Nicole Falcaro, and Joey Falcaro; his cherished great granddaughter, Alessia Nicole Salvatore; his nephews, Ronnie (his godson) and his niece-in-law Sheyla, Robert and niece-in-law Maria, and Richard Santobello; his two great nieces Elisa-Marie Santobello and Brianna Santobello; his great nephew Nicholas Santobello; his step-grandson Michael Liston; and his beloved dog, Ben. Visitation was held on Tuesday, December 7 at Cargain Funeral Homes, Inc., 10 Fowler Avenue, Carmel. A Mass of Christian burial was held on Wednesday, December 8 at St. James the Apostle, 14 Glenieda Avenue, Carmel.
