Constance E. ‘Cookie’ Burns, age 68, a lifelong resident of Brewster, died at home surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer on Saturday, December 4, 2010.

Mrs. Burns was born on December 28, 1941, in Watertown, NY to Jerome and Margaret (Tozzi) Taylor. She graduated from Brewster High School.

Mrs. Burns married Robert ‘Bunky’ Burns on October 15, 1965 in Brewster.

Through the years, Mrs. Burns was a waitress for the P & M Restaurant in Brewster, the Elms Restaurant in Patterson, and most recently for McGrath’s Restaurant in Pawling (formerly known as McKeevers).

Mrs. Burns enjoyed baking, cooking, and was a talented artist. She found visits to Myrtle Beach and Florida to be very relaxing and full of fun, especially when accompanied by her grandsons. They were truly the center of her life.

Besides her husband of 45 years, Mrs. Burns is survived by her daughters, Alicia Gasparini and her husband Todd of Wingdale, and Melissa Mullamphy and her husband Anthony of Holmes; three brothers, Richard Taylor of Sylvan Lake, NY; Jonathan Taylor of California; and Bobby Taylor of Tennessee; three grandsons, Travis, Colin, and Luke, as well as several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 11, at 11am at Beecher Funeral Home, 1 Putnam Avenue, Brewster. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm. A private cremation was held earlier.

In lieu of flowers, please make contributions in Cookie’s memory to the Putnam Humane Society, Box 297, Carmel, NY 10512.
