ROBERT WARREN SUTLIFF, JR.

Robert Warren Sutliff, Jr. 61, of Chesterfield, and formerly of Poughkeepsie, went to be with the Lord on Friday December 17, 2010. He is survived by his beloved wife of 36 years, Barbara (Rocco) Sutliff; sons, which were his pride and joy, Kevin, Jonathan, and David Sutliff; mother, Ellen Plog Sutliff; mother-in-law, Barbara Rocco; brothers and sisters-in-law, Thomas and Bonnie Sutliff, Peter Sutliff and Annie Rioux; brothers-in-law, Frank Rocco, Joseph Rocco, Jr. and his wife Diane; several nieces and nephews; and his devout constant companion, his dog, Harley Sportster. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Sutliff, Sr.; and his father-in-law, Joseph A. Rocco, Sr.

He graduated from Arlington High School and attended Dutchess Community College. Robert served in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War and worked for Advantage Sales and Marketing of Ashland, VA. He spent many years volunteering at Pocoshock Youth Soccer League and was also a member of the South Richmond Harley Club, and rode in the annual Rolling Thunder ride to Washington, DC each Memorial Day weekend. He also rode in the Wreaths Across America, and delivered to the Richmond National Cemetery in Sandston, VA. The family received friends on Wednesday December 22 at Beecher Funeral Home, Brewster. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thur. Dec. 23, 2010 at 11am at St. Lawrence O’Toole Church in Brewster. Interment will follow in St. Lawrence O’Toole Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Memorial Sloan-Kettering - Research Cancer Center 1275 York Avenue, New York, NY 10021.
