Elvira S. Oliver (The Oldest Blogger on Earth) a resident of Carmel, was 100 years old passed away on December 29, 2010 at her residence in the care of Hospice. Mrs. Oliver was the daughter of Italian immigrants. She was born on July 18, 1910, in Brooklyn, NY to Salvatore and Arcangela (Cardone) Sperduto. Mrs. Oliver worked as an Administrative Assistant for Coro Incorporation, in NYC. On November 30, 1935 she married Martin Oliver in Brooklyn, NY. She was the author of the on-line Essay “The Joys of Growing up Italian” and since 2008 was confirmed to be The Oldest Blogger on Earth, which is the name of her blog. Mrs. Oliver was an active member in the Golden Age Senior Citizen Club in Patterson. She is survived by her three children; Thomas M. Oliver, Floyd R. Oliver and Angela E. D’Ambrosio; six wonderful grandchildren Seeley Oliver, Miguel Otuzzo, Thomas Oliver, Laurie Magnant-Oliver, Christopher D’Ambrosio, Jason D’Ambrosio and Brian D’Ambrosio; and two greatgrandchildren Evan Oliver and Maegan Oliver, all of whom meant the world to her. She may be out of our sight, but never gone from our hearts or minds. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 7, 2011, at Cargain Funeral Homes from 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm. A service will be held on Saturday, January 8, 2011, at 11am at the Funeral Home. Interment to follow at Rose Hills Memorial Park.
