Melissa Ann Brichta of Stormville, died Friday, February 18, 2011, in Mt. Kisco after a courageous battle with cancer. She was 43 years of age.

Mrs. Brichta was born November 19, 1967 in Cortlandt. The daughter of Thomas Brandon of Unadilla, NY and Evelyn (Lundelius) Armistead of Patterson, she graduated from Carmel High School in 1985 and on Sept. 2, 1995 married Thomas Brichta at Trinity Lutheran Church in Brewster. She had worked for the Town of Patterson and most recently as an office manager at Guideposts in Pawling. Mrs. Brichta moved from Patterson to Stormville twelve years ago.

Besides her husband Thomas from Stormville and parents she is survived by her son Jake T. Brichta, her stepfather Richard Armistead, three brothers; Eugene Brandon of Poughquag, Michael and Anthony Armistead both of Mahopac; two sisters, Brenda Witter of Unadilla, NY and Heather Fisher of Mt. Kisco; and her mother-in-law Nancy Brichta of Stormville.

The funeral was held on February 22 at the Dwyer Funeral Home in Patterson. Interment followed in Raymond Hill Cemetery m Carmel. Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 220 Rt. 6, Mahopac, NY 10541, or Guideposts for Kids Comfort Kits for hospitalized children.
