Helen Cassidy Winter, 81, passed away on February 22, 2011, with her family by her side. Born on October 12, 1929, in the Bronx, Helen was the daughter of Lawrence and Rena Cassidy.

She grew up and attended Shrub Oak Schools. Helen married Wilbur J. Winter of the Alpine Inn and was a resident of Putnam Valley for 55 years. Helen enjoyed drawing, nature but most of all, cooking for family gatherings!

Helen is survived by her two brothers Mark (June) Cassidy of Stuart, FL, and John (Mary) Cassidy of New Windsor, NY. She is also survived by her four children: Susan (Frank) Kotzur of Kent; Holly (Raymond) Morrissey of Dover, NY; William Winter and Patricia Fries of Putnam Valley; nine grandchildren—Kathryn (James) Gernert and Michael Lubkeman, of Austin TX; Tricia Hunt of Tucson, AZ; Michael and Brie Kozloski of Sandy Hook, NJ; Scott Kotzur and Leah Kotzur of Kent; Alexis Fries and Austin Fries of Mahopac; and George Bidwell of Dover Plains; and five great-grandchildren—Jason, Matthew, and Ellen Gernert and Madeline and Bayleigh Helen Kozloski. Helen was predeceased by her husband Wilbur; her daughter Eileen Winter Adorno; and her two sons John Winter and Robert Winter.

A memorial visitation will be on Saturday, March 5, 2011 from 1pm to 3pm at Cargain Funeral Homes, Inc., 418 Route 6, Mahopac, NY 10541. 845-628-5655.
