Margaret A. “Peg” (Finnerty) Johnson, 83, of Brewster, Mass., loving wife, mother and grandmother, died Sunday March 27, 2011, at Epoch Senior Healthcare of Harwich, Mass. She was the loving wife of H. Stanley Johnson for 62 years.

Born in Mt. Kisco, NY, the daughter of the late Charles C. and Mary (Hogle) Finnerty, Mrs. Johnson was raised and educated in Pleasantville. She was very active in school and very close to her classmates. After her graduation from high school in 1946, Mrs. Johnson was employed by Easy Bild Patterns until she began raising her family. In 1955, she began a 35-year career as a teaching assistant in the Carmel school district. She retired in 1990.

Mrs. Johnson was a longtime resident of Pleasantville and Carmel. She moved to Cape Cod in 1994, living in Wellfleet and most recently, in Brewster, Mass.

She enjoyed doing needlepoint and knitting at the Eastham Council on Aging in addition to traveling and spending time with her grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Johnson is survived by her four children, Robert S. Johnson of Carmel; Susan Naspo of North Caldwell, NJ; Stephen T. Johnson of Waccabuc, NY; and Mary Blanchette of Louisville, CO; nine grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by a sister, Elizabeth “Betty” Jones.

A Memorial Service will be held at 3:30pm on Saturday, April 9, in the Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave., South Yarmouth, Mass. hallettfuneralhome.com.

Visitation will precede the service beginning at 2pm. Interment will be private.
