Rudolph J. Morrone of Columbia, CT, died Monday April 18, 2011, in Hartford, at the age of 61.

Mr. Morrone was born in Gragnano, Italy, on October 4, 1949, the son of the late Biagio and Lellian (Volarig) Morrone. He moved to the United States when he was five and settled in the Bronx. On June 9, 1970, he married Theresa Ullrich in St Francis DeChantal Church in the Bronx.

In 1997 the family moved to Thornwood for ten years. When he retired from his position as a night crew chief with the I.A.T.S.E. Local 1 at NBC Studios in New York City, he moved to Columbia, CT, to be close to Foxwoods Casino so he could play his favorite game, poker

Besides his wife, Theresa, Mr. Morrone is survived by his daughter Jennifer Abousamra of Brewster; two sons, Gerard Morrone of the Bronx, and Rudy Morrone Jr. of Columbia, CT; brothers Luciano Morrone of Williston Park, Jimmy (Vincent) Morrone of Armonk, and John Morrone of Princeton, NJ; a sister, Loretta Calco of Ormand Beach, FL; and nine grandchildren. He was predeceased by his daughter, Dawn Zerbo and a brother, Joseph Morrone.

A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, April 25, at 11am at St. James the Apostle Church in Carmel.

Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne. Calling hours will be held on Friday, April 22, and Saturday, April 23, from 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm at the Dwyer Funeral Home, 23 South Street, Patterson.
