Barbara was born on Nov. 28, 1945, in New York City to the late Evelyn and Leonard Marks.
Barbara is survived by her husband of 45 years, Eric, two children, Andrew and Kimberly, and four grandchildren, Carter, Mackenzie, Alex, and Juliette. The family Yorkshire terrier Magoo also survives, as does her brother Richard, her Aunt Charlotte, a niece and grand niece.
Barbara was a graduate of Suffern High School. She earned her Associate’s Degree from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City, and a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree from Western Connecticut State University in Danbury.
Barbara was an educator who worked for two years in the Carmel School District and for 29 years in the North Salem School District, from which she retired last June.
Barbara had a love for reading and her home was her castle—always with a knack for turning a room into a treasure. Her clocks, paintings, handmade pillows, and her garden are her legacy.
A memorial service will take place at the Cargain Funeral Home in Carmel on Sunday, May 1, at 2 pm.
The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Barbara’s memory to the charity of your choice.
