On Wednesday, May 4, 2011, Ruth M. Lovallo, 84, of Earlville, NY, formerly of Brewster, went home to be with the Lord.

Ruth is survived by her husband, Vincent Joseph Lovallo, her daughters: Margaret A. Lovallo of Earlville, Lesley A. Lovallo of Woodbury, Ct., and Liza A. Cooke of Redding, Ct., and a sister, Lois Taylor of Tennessee.

She also leaves two grandchildren, Aidan and Dylan Cooke of Redding, Ct., as well as several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Ruth was pre-deceased by her mother, Gladys Schneider, her father, Martin Schneider, her stepmother, Evelyn Schneider, and two sisters, Caroline Bergensten and June Delfay.

Ruth was born and raised in North Tarrytown and moved to Brewster as a young woman. She lived with her parents in Brewster (Milltown Road) on Wixett Farm, where she assisted her Dad in running his poultry business. She was also a medical technician for several years.

Ruth was a kind and gentle spirit. She possessed a great love for her family and put nothing above the needs of her daughters. She loved to have fun and had a keen sense of humor. She was an avid gardener, seamstress and home maker.

One of her greatest loves and passions were creatures of all kind (except spiders). All strays seemed to find their way to Ruth’s door, somehow knowing they would never be turned away. The number of pets Ruth shared her love with are too numerous to recall. She was a “neighbor” to all, an extraordinary mother, daughter, wife, homemaker, and friend. Her passing will be enormously felt by so many who knew and loved her.

There will be a private memorial service in Ruth’s honor. For anyone able, a contribution to a non-destroy animal rescue or shelter would be an ideal way to commemorate her.
