Evelyn M. Hall, age 90, of Pawling, passed away peacefully on May 19, 2011. Evelyn was born in Patterson on March 20, 1921, the daughter of the late William & Gladys (Smalley) Hiser. She graduated from Pawling High School in 1939. Evelyn married the love of her life, Royce R. Hall on April 14, 1939 at Old John St. Methodist Church, New York, NY.

Evelyn and Royce worked hand in hand and were owners and operators, starting with the Holmes Country store in 1940s, then on to the Hall’s Tackle shop in the 1950s in Patterson, and finally the Hall’s Dept. store in the 1960s. In her later years she was employed as a receptionist at Kiernan Auto sales in Pawling. Most of all, Evelyn will be remembered for her outgoing and caring personality and for her love and devotion to her family and friends.

Evelyn is pre-deceased by her devoted husband Royce Hall in 1986. She is survived by her two loving daughters, Diana (Bernard) Kessman of Sherman, Ct.; Deborah Onorato of New Milford, Ct.; and pre-deceased by her son-in-law Michael Onorato. Her six cherished grandchildren are Todd, Michael, Sandi, and Scott Kessman and Keith Lyke and Heather Leonard. She is also survived by her ten great grandchildren: Gregory, Kathryn, Cassandra, Dylan Kessman, Justin Eastman, Lindsey Kessman, Noah and Riley Lyke, Owen Reighard, and Mari Leonard.

A service was celebrated on Tuesday, May 24, at the Dwyer Funeral Home in Patterson, with Interment at the Maple Ave Cemetery in Patterson. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Evelyn’s name may be made to: The Juvenile Diabetes Foundation -Westchester County Chapter White Plains, and The Leukemia Society. She will be greatly missed.
