MARY ‘MARGE’ CUNNINGHAM

Mary “Marge” Cunningham, 84, of Carmel, NY, passed away on June 6, 2011 at Putnam Hospital Center. Marge was born on October 30, 1926, in NYC to John and Catherine (Gillespie) Walker. On August 15, 1945, she married James Cunningham to whom she was married for almost 60 years before his death in 2004. Marge worked as a Sales Supervisor for Controlex in Croton Falls, NY, for over twenty years before she retired. As an active member in her community, Marge was a past President of the Columbiettes of Carmel, NY, and a member of Kent Seniors. She is survived by her loving daughter Karen (James) Fleming, her brother William, her sister Helen Degnan, four adoring grandchildren; Tara (Gary) Albaum, Kristine (Christopher) Conforti, James Fleming and Daniel (Maureen) Fleming and three wonderful great-grandchildren; Jonathan and Katherine Albaum and James Conforti. She is also predeceased by her beloved son, Marine Lance Cpl. James and her brother John. Visitation will be June 9 from 4pm to 8pm at Cargain Funeral Home, 10 Fowler Avenue, Carmel. A Mass of Christian burial will be on Friday, June 10, 2011, at 10 am at St. James the Apostle. Interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in her memory to Putnam Hospital Center Foundation.
