Cuomo Extends Hours at Swimming Facilities, Parks During Heat Wave
Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today (Friday) announced he has directed the Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation to offer extended hours at state swimming facilities and other state parks during the current heat wave as a way to help New Yorkers beat the heat. The extended hours will begin today and continue through Saturday evening.
“One way to stay cool during this severe heat wave is to visit one of our beautiful state beaches, pools and parks. These high temperatures can be dangerous if New Yorkers don’t take the proper precautions. Offering these extended hours will help New Yorkers beat the heat,” Governor Cuomo said.
“I’m pleased to work with Governor Cuomo to offer more opportunities for New York families to cool off during this heat wave. I cannot think of a better place to be on a hot summer day than one of our great state parks,” said Rose Harvey, Commissioner, Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation
