ROLF A. FEIN

Rolf A. Fein entered into rest on July 20, 2011. He was born in Leipzig, Germany on April 28, 1918, the son of William and Toni (Schloss) Fein. Rolf was a survivor of the Holocaust and the Buchenwald concentration camp.

After immigrating to the United States, Rolf enlisted into the United States Army and was assigned to Army Intelligence due to his fluency in German. He was assigned to the liberation forces and was stationed in Italy. Rolf received the Bronze Star medal for his work as an interpreter while a member of Army Intelligence.

Rolf settled in Brewster in 1950, where he resided with his wife, Claire, and son Kenny, both of whom predeceased him. He also survived his brother Herbert Fein, who died in England, and his beloved sister Annelore Fein De Martini, of Genoa, Italy, who died in March of 2010.

Rolf is survived by his loving nieces and nephew, Isabella, Gabriella, Elisabetta, Nicoletta, Paola, Piera Luisa, Francesca and Massimo De Martini, all of whom reside in Genoa, Italy, Paris, and London.

Rolf is also survived by many loving cousins including Aliza D’Agati of Newburgh. A Memorial Service was celebrated on Sunday, July 31, in Brewster. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Jewish Federation of Greater Orange County, 68 Stewart Avenue, Newburgh, NY 12550.
