Ruth Marjorie Morgan Both passed away peacefully at home August 10. She was 91 years old.

Born January 21, 1920 to Allie Brazzel and Daniel J. Morgan in Hornbeck, Louisiana, Mrs. Both attended Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, and received her registered nursing degree from Our Lady of the Lake Nursing Academy, also in Baton Rouge. She was awarded the Nightingale Lamp as most distinguished in her class. She met and married her husband, Marinus Both, while he was stationed in Baton Rouge during WWII. They were married for 49 years and lived in Kent, where they raised three children.

She was a nurse at the Mahopac Hospital and the Somers Manor Nursing Home in Somers. Later she was employed by the Putnam County National Bank as a teller for 20 years.

Mrs. Both was predeceased by her husband in 1996. She leaves a sister, Mildred E. Butenschoen of Checotah, OK. Three children, R Maureen Salvestrini of Manahawhin, NJ; Gail Carrion- Murayari of Carmel; and David M. Both of Carmel; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, as well as an unofficially adopted daughter, Barbara Adams of Carmel.

She will be greatly missed.

A visitation was held on Sunday, August 7, 2011 and a service on Monday, August 8, 2011 at Cargain Funeral Home, Inc. 10 Fowler Avenue, Carmel, NY 10512 845-225-3672. Interment followed at Raymond Hill Cemetery.
