Joanne Ferris of Carmel, New York, died after a brief illness Thursday September 8, 2011, in Brewster, at the age of 66. She was born June 16, 1945 in The Bronx, daughter of the late Ray Jamer and Mae D’Aloia.

Ms. Ferris lived in Carmel for the past nine years. She worked as an assistant to the President of Kane Publishing Services in Manhattan for 25 yrs. before retiring in 2009.

She is survived by her three children, Joanne Keena and her husband Patrick; John Ferris and his wife Patricia; and James Ferris, all of Brewster; two sisters, Darlene Dommermuth of New Fairfield, Conn.; and Resa Cutlip of Ohio; a brother, Ray Jamer of Danbury, Conn.; five grandchildren, John and Taylor Ferris, Elissa Ferris, and Brooke and Adrianna Keena. She was predeceased by a brother, Ernest Jamer.

Calling hours for friends and family will be held from 2 to 6pm on Saturday, September 10, at Beecher Funeral Home, 1 Putnam Ave., Brewster. A brief prayer service will follow at 6pm. Interment will be private.
