John James Lord of Heritage Village died peacefully at home on September 5, 2011, surrounded by his family. He was born in 1930 in the Bronx. John was married for 59 years to the love of his life, Patricia. They raised their 8 children in Brewster. Family was the most important thing in his life.

John is survived by his children, John (Kathy), Patty Murphy (Kevin), Kathleen (Jerry), Michael (Lauren), Ann Marie Farrell (John), Maryann Donaghey (Michael), Meg Miller (Kim), Maureen Tyra (Gary); 25 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; a brother, Tom (Nancy); a sister, Irene Hagan; and a brother-in-law Bill McMahon (Mary Jane).

John joins in heaven many cherished friends and family and leaves an extended family in the many that were near and dear to him. He was an active member of every community in which he lived. He was a Little League coach, Grand Knight and District Deputy of the Knights of Columbus, a lector and parish council member at each church to which he belonged, including Sacred Heart in Southbury, Conn.

John was chairman of the legal committee for Heritage Village. He graduated from Fordham and St. John’s Law School. John was a VP at USAIG in NYC and lead counsel for Bell Helicopter in Hurst, TX. He enjoyed watching sports, especially the New York Giants and any games his family played. He consistently put up big numbers on the golf course!

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on September 9 at St. Lawrence O’Toole Church, Brewster. Interment followed at the St. Lawrence O’Toole Cemetery. Arrangements were handled by The Beecher Funeral Home, Brewster. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Bridges of Peace and Hope, bridgesofpeaceandhope.org
