Marilyn King Bruen, born in Mechanicville, NY, August 28, 1931, passed away on September 18, 2011, at her home. She was 80 years old. Marilyn was born to August S. King and Frances G. King. On June 16, 1951 Marilyn married David Duncan Bruen in Brewster.

Marilyn has been a resident of Brewster since high school. She is survived by her husband and love of her life, David “Dunc” Bruen and her nine children, Diana Bruen Stevens (Tom), Margaret Bruen (Sean Delgado), David M. Bruen (Karen), Bonnie King (Jim), Kathleen B. McGrath (Brian), James Duncan Bruen, Mary B. Tedesco (Mike), Marilyn B. Merkel (Fred), Susan B. Power (Tom) and 22 grandchildren. She is survived by her brother, James E. King. Marilyn also has a brother-in-law, Donald P. Bruen and sister-in-law June Garcia.

Marilyn was a member of St. Lawrence O’Toole Parish. Her many interests benefited The American Cancer Society, The March of Dimes, St. Lawrence Mother’s Guild, Friends of Karen, Meals on Wheels, and The Sicilian Singing Club. Marilyn actively supported her husband’s public service career. All who knew Marilyn will remember her lovely soprano voice, her inner strength, faith, and her beautiful spirit. And let us not forget her beauty - Ah yes…her beauty. In lieu of flowers, please send contributions to The American Cancer Society.

A mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Wed. Sept. 21, 2011, at St. Lawrence O’Toole Church in Brewster.
