Peter Milano of Brewster died Sunday October 30, 2011, in Carmel at the age of 78.
Mr. Milano was born February 18, 1933 in Mt. Vernon, N.Y., son of the late Louis and Theresa (Spear) Milano. He was an altar server at Our Lady Of Mt. Carmel Church in Mt. Vernon, attended Edison High School, and then served three years with the Army as a drill sergeant, as well as in the Korean War.
On June 4, 1955 he married Angela Rocco in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Mt. Vernon. He was a police officer in Mt. Vernon for twenty years before retiring in 1979.
Mr. Milano had moved to Brewster in 1964 where he became a member of St. Lawrence O’Toole Church. He owned and operated P & L Cleaning and then Milano Maintenance; he also did security on the Helmsley Estate and for TWA. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Brewster council #1492 and the Italian American Social Club in Brewster.
Besides his wife, Angela, he is survived by his six children; Theresa Santoro of LaGrangeville; Louis Milano, Peter Milano, Frank Milano, Christopher Milano and Angela Morelli all of Brewster; twenty grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his sister Constance Milano.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, November 3, at 11 a.m. at St. Lawrence O’Toole Church, Brewster, with interment following at St. Lawrence O’Toole Cemetery, Brewster. Friends may call at the Beecher Funeral Home, 1 Putnam Avenue, Brewster, on Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers contributions in his memory may be made to St. Lawrence O’Toole Church, 31 Prospect St., Brewster, NY 10509.
