In Brewster, the saluting of Old Glory spanned generations when veterans of World War II, Korea, Vietnam and Iraq joined school children and scouts when reciting the Pledge of Allegiance.
Putnam's Veterans Affairs Director and former NTS VFW Commanderf Karl Rohde told a gathering at the Electrozone Field: "Americans are free for five important reasons--Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and Coast Guard."
