Marie L. McCauley, age 64 of Brewster, passed away on November 5, 2011, in Vassar Brothers Hospital, Poughkeepsie, with her family by her side after a long battle fighting cancer.

Marie was born August 7, 1947, to the late Peter and Adele (Zemaitis) Stramaitis in Dinkelsbul West, Germany. She was a graduate of All Saints H.S. in Brooklyn, and also attended American Institute of Banking, in New York City.

She was employed by Willamsburg Savings Bank in Brooklyn, as a clerk typist, and that is where she met the love of her life, Thomas J. McCauley Jr. Marie and Thomas were married on June 23, 1973 at the Church of the Annunciation, also in Brooklyn.

Marie had a place in her heart for stray dogs and cats. Her two granddaughters were her angels. But most of all, Marie will be remembered for her love and devotion to her family and friends.

Marie is survived by her devoted husband, Thomas, her loving daughter Laura McCauley Kostik (Joseph) of Fishkill, and cherished grandchildren Alexandra Marie and Isabella Rose. She is also survived by her brothers William and Bernard Stramaitis.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Wed. Nov. 9th at St. Lawrence O’Toole Church in Brewster with interment at the St. Lawrence O’Toole Cemetery.
