Elsie Matteo, longtime resident of Carmel, passed away peacefully at her home on January 22, 2012, at the age of 68. She was born in the Bronx, on May 24, 1943. She was the loving wife to Rocco Joseph Matteo. Full Story
WILLIAM MEAD SHIELDS
William Mead Shields, 81, passed away peacefully on December 23, 2011, at his home in Fort Pierce, Florida after a courageous battle with a rare form of cancer. Bill was born on November 17, 1930, at his home on Seminary Hill Road in Carmel, New York to the late Olive Mead and Erwin F. Shields Sr. He is predeceased by his older brother Erwin F. August T. Piazza, age 97, of Brewster, died peacefully at home on Sunday January 22, 2012.
Mr. Piazza was born October 21, 1914, in the Bronx, son of the late Thomas and Genni (Latino) Piazza. He moved to Brewster when he was six years old. Full Story

Rita Gross 76, of Carmel, passed away on January 5, 2012, at Putnam Hospital Center.
Mrs. Gross was born on September 18, 1935, to Louis and Sadie (Moffi) Balzarini in New York City.
On May 28, 1979, she married August J. Gross in New York. Mrs. Gross worked as a Dietitian in Putnam Hospital Center. Full Story
