FRANCIS M. O’GRADY

Francis M. O’Grady died on Sunday March 11, 2012. He was born in Brooklyn and resided in Yonkers during his youth. He served two tours in the Army during WW II while stationed in Hawaii and Japan.

Francis was married to Elizabeth (Roquet) in 1952 and later moved to Mahopac, New York, where he raised his family. He was active in St. John the Evangelist Church as CYO coach, usher, Holy Name and choir member. He was also an Elk and member of various golf leagues.

He retired as a PEF Union Representative and relocated to Palm Harbor, Florida in the 1991, where he continued golfing and singing in church and a barbershop group. He was predeceased by Elizabeth in 2010.

Francis leaves a son, Jerrold (Tina) O’Grady of Matthews, N.C. , and daughter Ellen MacConnell of Gainesville, Va., as well as six grandchildren, Ashley, Michael, Katie, Christopher, Jennifer (deceased), Victoria and James, and many nieces and nephews.

A wake will be held Friday March 16, 2012 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.

A funeral mass will be held at St. John the Baptist Parish in Yonkers, on March 17, 2012 with a burial immediately following at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Yonkers.
