Orlando F. ‘Lanny’ Totten, age 82, a long time resident of Brewster, died on March 15, 2012, in Valhalla, NY.

Mr. Totten was born on June 15, 1929, in Goldens Bridge, NY, to Albert Sr. and Alma (Brown) Totten. He attended schools in Somers, NY.

He married Nancy Adipietro on February 28, 1960, in the Bronx. Mrs. Totten died December 12, 2001.

Mr. Totten was employed by Cahill Industries as a truck driver for over 40 years. After retiring from the Teamsters union local 456, he became a certified weighmaster at Harlem Valley Materials (formerly Cahill Industries) and took his second retirement in June 2011.

He was a very proud grandfather, talking up his grandchildren at every opportunity. They were truly the center of his love and happiness.

Mr. Totten is survived by his three daughters, Diane Gray and her husband Philip of Hopewell Jct., Tina Griffin and her husband Thomas of Bethel, Ct,, and Lana Vazzano and her husband Frank of Brewster; a brother, Albert Totten Jr. of Montello, Nev.; two sisters, Alma Shatrowsky of Port St. Lucie, Fla., and Marcella Weston of Patterson; as well as four grandchildren, Philip Gray, Andrew Gray, Cristina Vazzano, and Katie Griffin. He was predeceased by his brother, Frank T. Totten.

A funeral service was held on Monday, March 19 at St Lawrence O’Toole Church in Brewster. A private cremation followed. Friends called at the Beecher Funeral Home, 1 Putnam Avenue, Brewster, on Sunday. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Lanny’s memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
