Anne M. Shea

Anne M. Shea, 81, of Lake Carmel, died peacefully, with her family at her side, at Putnam Hospital on April 18, 2012.
 
Born in New York City on March 31, 1931, she was the daughter of Daniel and Mary Teehan Sullivan. Anne was a legal secretary for one of the partners in the law firm of King and Spalding in New York City until her retirement in 2009. Over the years, she enjoyed many traveling adventures with her family, vacationing throughout the United States, Canada and Europe. She especially looked forward to the annual “Family Vacation” in North Wildwood, N.J. She was a member of the St. James the Apostle Prayer Group, and had many dear friends among them.
 
On May 17, 1952, in the Bronx, Anne married Thomas J. Shea, who predeceased her in 1986. She was also predeceased by her baby girl, Rosaleen Patricia Shea. Anne is survived by her five children, Annemarie Collins and her husband, Patrick, of Stormville; Rosemarie McDermott of Dumont, N.J.; Thomas Shea and his wife, Donna, of LaGrangeville; Brian Shea of East Greenwich, R.I.; and Brendan Shea and his wife, Gina of LaGrange. Anne was a loving grandmother to 16 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and awaited 2 more before summer’s end.
 
Anne is also survived by her sister, Mary Reilly, and brother, John Sullivan and his wife, Aoife. She was predeceased by her brother Daniel Sullivan. Anne is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Maureen Sullivan, Alice Shea, Rita Shea and brother-in-law, James Shea and his wife Sarah, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
 
Mrs. Shea's calling hours are from 2 to 4 p.m., and 7 to 9 p.m. on Sunday April 22, 2012 at the Cargain Funeral Home, 10 Fowler Avenue, Carmel, 845-225-3672. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 23, 2012 at Our Lady of the Lake Church, 1 Noonan Drive, Lake Carmel, NY 10512.
 
Burial will follow at Madonna Cemetery, Fort Lee, New Jersey.
