Joan F. Garcia

Joan F. Garcia of Wappingers Falls, NY, died after a brief illness on Monday April 23, 2012, in Carmel, at the age of 76.

Mrs. Garcia was born January 16, 1936, in Tarrytown, daughter of the late James and Josephine (Herlihy) Kelley. She grew up in Irvington, and graduated from Irvington Schools. She moved to Wappingers Falls thirteen years ago. Mrs. Garcia worked as the secretary to the Principal in Irvington School District and retired after 41 years. She was a charter member of the Hudson Valley Volunteer Fireman’s Assoc. Ladies Auxillary, LAFASNY and a Gold Star Mother. She will be remembered as the person sitting on the stoop at 8 Main St….

Mrs. Garcia is survived by her husband, Joseph Garcia, of Highland, NY, her daughters, Joanne Hill of Wingdale, and Jayne Matthews of Wappingers Falls; a son, William Irwin of Irvington; two grandchildren, Melody Williams of Carmel, and Marianna Tompkins of Wingdale; and one greatgrandchild, Christopher Tompkins.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, April 26, 2012 at 8 p.m. at the Beecher Funeral Home, 1 Putnam Ave., Brewster, NY 10509. Calling hours will be prior to the service from 3 to 8 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be private. Contributions in her memory may be made to the American Heart Association.
