Steve “Grumpy” Flanders from Carmel, long time resident of White Plains, died peacefully after a long and courageous battle with cancer on May 18 at the age of 76, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April 29, 1936, to Frances (nee Gilmore) and Howard N. Flanders in Boston.
He graduated from Deerfield Academy in 1954 and from Dartmouth College in the class of 1958. He served with the U.S. Marines for two years, followed by a long career with the Bank of New York. His love of gardening and caring for the family home occupied his free time.
He is survived by his loving bride of 42 years, Judy, and daughters Sarah Flanders and Catherine Paraskeva; son-inlaw Jason and grandchildren Kaitlyn and Andrew. He is also survived by his sisters Judy Coon (Marshfield, Mass.) and Jane Flanders (N. Hollywood, Ca.)
A family burial will be held in the near future and then a Memorial Service on June 30th at 1 p.m. at The Church of the Holy Communion, 1055 Route 6, Mahopac, followed by a reception in the Parish Hall.
