Marie Teresa (Nuzzi) Meola

Marie Teresa (Nuzzi) Meola, of Brewster, was called to be with the Lord on Saturday May 26, 2012, in Danbury, Ct., at the age of 78.

Marie was born February 24, 1934, in White Plains, the daughter of the late Joseph and Lillian (Capasso) Nuzzi. Marie graduated from Eastchester High School and business school. On May 9, 1959 she married Thomas Meola in Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Scarsdale.

Marie and Tom began their lives together and started their family in Yonkers before moving to Brewster 45 years ago. They became members of St. Lawrence O’Toole Church.

Marie was an avid bowler and looked forward to her morning league, where she continued to be the secretary even after she stopped bowling. She worked for many years as a bookkeeper for Lloyd Lumber Co.—then Dill’s Best in Brewster—before she retired.

Besides her husband Thomas of Brewster, Marie is survived by her son Louis Meola and his wife Brenda of Danbury, Ct.; her daughter Donna Budd and her husband Brian of Sandy Hook, Ct.; a sister Margaret “Babes” DeRobertis of Scarsdale; and five grandchildren, Louis Jr., Jessica, Thomas, Kristen and Matthew.

Marie was predeceased by her sister, Gloria Fiscella. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on May 29 at St. Lawrence O’Toole Church in Brewster, with interment at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Danbury, Ct.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the American Heart Association. Arrangements were handled by the Beecher Funeral Home.
