Bells to Ring on Monday

by Annie Chesnut
The Courier has learned that Brian McPartland, the New York State President of the Children of the American Revolution, met Putnam County Executive MaryEllen Odell at the Brewster Elks Flag Day ceremony last week.

McPartland, who just completed his first year at Duke University, mentioned to Odell that he would be ringing the bell at the Whipple-Feeley Putnam County Veterans Memorial Chapel (located at Putnam County Veterans Memorial Park) on Monday, June 18 at 12 noon to celebrate the Bicentennial of the War of 1812. Odell said she hoped to join him there.

The Children of the American Revolution are encouraging community members to join in and ring their church or school bells all at the same time on Monday, June 18 at 12 noon for the Bicentennial of the War of 1812. If you have access to a bell, chime in!
