Eric Gross

Kent Police Tuesday asked for the public's assistance in identifying a hit-and-run vehicle that critically injured a 16-year-old Kent boy.

Chief Alex DiVernieri said the incident took place Sunday around 9:45 a.m. near the causeway on Smalley's Corners Road in western Kent.

The chief said the victim was either riding or carrying a skateboard when he was run down by an unknown vehicle. The youth suffered serious head and internal injuries and was admitted to the Westchester Medical Center after being found lying on the ground in what the chief described as a "semi-conscious" condition.

DiVernieri said police have no description of the suspect vehicle.

Anyone driving through the area who might have witnessed the incident or who might have seen a teenager on a skateboard at the time is asked to contact Detective Kevin Beauchesne at Kent Police headquarters by calling 225-4600. All calls will be kept confidential.
