DOROTHY WALLIN CHASAE

Dorothy Wallin Chase died suddenly on October 28 in Danbury Hospital. She was born in Yonkers, New York on January 14, 1929, to the late George V. and Doretta (Kuss) Wallin. For her first twenty years, Dorothy spent every summer at Vails Grove, Peach Lake, Brewster. She attended Yonkers schools; graduated from Stoneleigh- Burnham School in Greenfield, Massachusetts; Endicott College in Beverly, Massachusetts; and Berkley College in White Plains.

Dorothy married the late Ellwood S. Chase, Jr. on June 3, 1950, at First Presbyterian Church in Yonkers. She was predeceased by a son, Stewart, and a daughter-in-law, Victoria, of Potomac Falls, Virginia. She has a daughter and son-in- law, Diane and Peter Altobelli of Patterson, New York and Potomac Falls, Virginia and two grandchildren, Madeline and Samuel also of Potomac Falls. Dorothy is also survived by her sister, Mildred Wallin Martin, of Brewster.

She was a member of: Fortnightly Club of Yonkers, North Salem Seniors, Westchester Glass Club, Crohn’s & Colitis Association of America, and a Board member of the Auxiliary of St. John’s Riverside Hospital in Yonkers.

Dorothy was a past president of the Junior Guild of Yonkers, Halsted School Parents Council in Yonkers, Fortnightly Club, and the Auxiliary of St. John’s Riverside Hospital. She was a former Elder and Deacon of First Westminster Presbyterian Church where she also taught Sunday school for many years.

Visitation will be Friday, November 9, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at Beecher Funeral Home, 1 Putnam Avenue, Brewster. Following visitation a memorial service will be held at 12 noon. Interment will follow at Oakland Cemetery, Yonkers.
