GERALD F. BLASL

Gerald F. Blasl, of Carmel, passed away on Thursday, December 6, 2012 at Putnam Hospital Center in Carmel. He was 83.

Mr. Blasl was born March 24, 1929, in Manhattan, to George and Anna (Czermak) Blasl.

He married Eileen Ingham on April 23, 1955 in the Bronx. Mrs. Blasl died May 12, 1998.

Mr. Blasl was a facilities manager for Newsweek Magazine in Manhattan for 33 years, retiring in 1990.

Mr. Blasl was an avid salt water fisherman and fan of women’s softball, never missing his granddaughter Kiersten’s games played for Brewster or Manhattanville. He was a member of the Brewster BPO Elks, the German-American Social Club in Mahopac, and a friend of the Mahopac VFW.

Mr. Blasl is survived by his daughter, Anna Schramek and her husband A. Gerald of Brewster, a son, Michael Blasl and his wife Dawn Marie of Chatham; a brother, Eric Blasl and a sister, Sr. Tarcisius of the Sisters of St. Agnes, Fond du Lac, Wis. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren, Michael Tighe, Kiersten Schramek, Michael Blasl, and Julia Blasl. He was predeceased by a grandson Jeremy Phillipp Schramek on January 28, 2010 and a sister, Irene Toricelli.

A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, December 15, 10:15 a.m. at St. Lawrence O’Toole Church, Brewster, with interment following at Buena Vista Cemetery in Brodheadsville, Pa. Friends may call at the Beecher Funeral Home, 1 Putnam Avenue, Brewster on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m.
