Antonio Vanza, Sr.
Antonio Vanzo, Sr., age 54, a 14-year resident of Carmel, died on Saturday, February 9, 2013, in Carmel.
Mr. Vanzo was born in the Bronx on December 31, 1958, to Rinaldo and Rena C. (Beltrami) Vanzo. He attended schools in the Bronx.
Mr. Vanzo married Melissa Mollica on July 10, 1999, in Las Vegas, and owned and operated A. Vanzo Grinding Service in Carmel, for over 40 years.
A member of St. James the Apostle Church, Mr. Vanzo was known for his sponsorship of youth sporting organizations, as well as his enjoyment of Atlantic City and travel with family. He was an avid Yankees fan and most importantly a loving father.
Besides his wife Melissa, Mr. Vanzo is survived by his five children; Victoria Vanzo of New Windsor, Alexandria Vanzo of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., and Alyssa, Renamarie and Antonio Vanzo Jr., all of Carmel; three brothers, Victor Vanzo of Wappingers Falls, Rinaldo Vanzo of Deltona, Fla., and Henry Vanzo of Carmel; three sisters, Victoria Vanzo of Brewster, Maria O’Connor of Hopewell Junction, and Josephine Nella of Hamilton, Canada. He was predeceased by his brother Pietro in 2004.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, February 14, 2013, 10:30am at St. James the Apostle Church, Carmel, with interment following at St. Lawrence O’Toole Cemetery, Brewster. Friends called at the Beecher Funeral Home, 1 Putnam Avenue, Brewster on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Antonio’s memory may be made to Celebrate Life Half Marathon, a marathon in which Antonio’s daughter is both participating in and assisting with, that benefits cancer patients and their families. www.crowdrise.com/runningforapurposeVEV
