Mary Novotny

Mary Novotny, age 90, of Holmes, NY, died on Thursday, February 7, 2013, in Carmel.

Mrs. Novotny was born in Yonkers on January 31, 1923, to John and Anna (Kurty) Sarich. She graduated from schools in Yonkers.

She married Alexander M. Novotny on May 10, 1947, in Yonkers. Mr. Novotny died January 28, 2001.

Mrs. Novotny was a resident of Holmes since 1967.

A member of St. James ‘The Apostle’ Church and the office of the Aging Friendship Center, Mrs. Novotny was known for her crocheting, as well as gardening, baking and caring for her house plants, which adorned every room in the house.

Mrs. Novotny is survived by her six children, Mary Ann Novotny of Holmes, Alexander M. Novotny Jr. and his wife Elaine of Columbia, Md., Helen Novotny of Holmes, Frances ‘Fran’ Munroe and her husband Patrick of Pine Island, Fla., Barbara Kjer and her husband Arlen of Pensacola, Fla. and John F. Novotny and his wife Michele of Bemus Point, NY, as well as six grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by her brothers and sisters, Tony and John Sarich, Anna Malota and Helen Michalsky.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Monday, February 11, 2013, at St. James the Apostle Church, Carmel, followed by a private cremation. www.beecherfuneralhome.com
