Thomas Michael Cunningham

Thomas Michael Cunningham, of Danbury, formerly of Brewster, died Friday March 1, 2013, at Northern Westchester Hospital. He was 70 years old.

Thomas was born on January 23, 1943, in Queens, NY, to the late Thomas J. and Mary (O’Toole) Cunningham. He graduated from Forest Hills High School in 1960 and graduated with an Associate’s degree from Voorhees Technical Institute.

Thomas married Lenore “Noree” Tierney on September 18, 1971, at St. Lawrence O’Toole Church in Brewster.

Thomas was a tool and die maker/ machinist with GP Tool in Danbury for 18 years. Prior to working at GP Tool, he worked for Cam Tech in Hawthorne, N.Y.

Thomas enjoyed rebuilding his ‘Baby’, a 1967 Triumph 4A, which he brought to car shows all over the state. He was a member of the Brits of the Hudson and the Connecticut Triumph Register.

In addition to his loving wife Lenore, Thomas is survived by his two children: his son Thomas F. Cunningham (Dorothy) of White Plains, and his daughter Meghan T. Decker (Andrew) of Danbury; his three grandchildren whom he adopted in 2011, Marie, Michael and Thomas Cunningham; and his granddaughter Payton Decker.

He is also survived his mother-inlaw Lenore Tierney; three sisters-inlaw, Maura Tierney, Pat (Keith) Kenel, Kerry (Ken) Tripoli; and eleven nieces and nephews. He was predeceased in life by his daughter Tara Cunningham and two sisters-in-law.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Monday, March 4, 2013, at St. Lawrence O’Toole Church, Brewster. Interment will be a private cremation.
