Gertrude Napolitano, 95, of Brewster, died Friday, March 22, 2013, at Putnam Hospital Center in Carmel.
Mrs. Napolitano was born October 19, 1917, in Orange, Mass., to William and Marion (George) Dresser.
On July 31, 1939, Gertrude married Pasquale Saverino Napolitano in Turners Falls, Mass. Mr. Napolitano died on January 10, 2006.
At age 50, Mrs. Napolitano earned her Bachelor’s degree in accounting from NYU and at age 55, her Master’s degree in taxation and finance from Iona College in New Rochelle. She then worked as an accountant for many years, fulfilling her lifelong dream.
Mrs. Napolitano enjoyed sewing and needlework as well as travel and golf.
Mrs. Napolitano is survived by her two children, Pasquale Napolitano Jr. (Patrick) and his wife Carol of Newtown, Ct., and Filomena DiLallo (Mena) and her husband Al of Brewster; four brothers, Richard, Carl (Jo), Roger (Wanda), and Donald (Deanne Dresser); a sister, Jane (Richard) Kimbel; six grandchildren, Debbi, Keith, Lisa, Tim, Tara and Chris; and four great grandchildren, Will, Andie, Rafael and Leah.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 2, at 10 a.m. at St. Lawrence O’Toole Church, Brewster. Interment will follow at Rose Hills Memorial Park, Putnam Valley. Friends may call at Beecher Funeral Home, 1 Putnam Avenue, Brewster on Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
