Philip M. Campbell

Philip M. Campbell, age 80, of Stevens Point, Wisconsin, passed away Monday, April 22, 2013, at Saint Clare’s Hospital in Weston, Wisconsin.

Phil was born July 22, 1932, in New York City, the son of Peter Campbell of County Leitrim, Ireland, and Catherine (Duffy) Campbell of Blackburn, Scotland. He graduated from Cardinal Hayes High School in the Bronx, New York, in 1950. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War as a communications technician and was honorably discharged in 1955. Phil married Cecilia McNamara on September 12, 1964, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Scarsdale, New York. They resided most of their married years in Carmel, New York, and Danbury, Connecticut.

Phil received a Bachelor of Science degree from Mercy College in Dobbs Ferry, New York, in 1979. He worked for several large corporations in Manhattan, New York, before becoming Risk Manager for Putnam County, New York. He retired in 1998. Phil and Ceil eventually settled in Stevens Point, Wisconsin, for their retirement.

Phil is survived by his wife Cecilia, Stevens Point; three children: Catherine (James) Barrett, Stevens Point; Philip (Michelle) Campbell, Panama City, Florida; Peter (Jacinta) Campbell, Aberdeen, North Carolina. One brother: Joseph (Dona) Campbell of Fairfield, Connecticut. One sister: Marianne (Campbell) Wood of Fort Mill, South Carolina. Nine grandchildren: Aidan, Celia, Lillian, Joseph, Mary, Emily, Bridget, Allison, and Sophia.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Phil was held at Saint Stanislaus Kostka Church. Burial with full military honors was at Guardian Angel Cemetery in Stevens Point, Wisconsin.
