George Raymond Cuggy

George Raymond Cuggy, age 60, of Waterbury, Ct., formerly of Bear, Del., died Sunday May 19, 2013, in Waterbury.

Mr. Cuggy was born January 25, 1953, son to the late George Robert and Ursula (Gertenbach) Cuggy. He was a 1971graduate of Brewster High School. During his high school years, George was a member of the Garry Owen Group, a mini military club. He was also a member of the school’s gymnastics team.

After high school he joined the United States Army. His most memorable times were when he was stationed at Fort Clayton in the Panama Canal Zone and Fort Bragg in North Carolina, where he was an air traffic controller. He served for the U.S. Military for 10 years and was honorably discharged holding the rank of Staff Sergeant. During his time serving he was honored with numerous awards and medals.

Mr. Cuggy was a network Engineer for Computer Science Corporation in Newark, Del., where he resided for the last 13 years up until early 2013. He enjoyed camping, fishing, and playing golf in his leisure time.

Mr. Cuggy is survived by his son, George Richard Cuggy of Milford, Ct., and his daughter Lisa Marie Cuggy of Carmel; his siblings, Barbara Cullum and her husband Doug of Wappingers Falls, Paul Cuggy and his wife Donna of Waterbury, and Rob Cuggy of Brewster; his best friend Marcelina, and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Kemo, his beloved cat, will miss him dearly.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, May 24, 2013, at 10 a.m. at St. Lawrence O’Toole Church, Brewster. Interment will be private. Friends may call at the Beecher Funeral Home, 1 Putnam Avenue, Brewster, on Thursday from 5 to 9 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mr. Cuggy’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society.
