Huntington, 64, was born in New York City on July 2, 1948, to the late Connie and John Huntington of Carmel.

She married Harold Nicolaysen who predeceased her in 2004.

The couple resided for many years in Carmel and Manhattan while also establishing residency in Sandefjord, Norway.

Libby was educated at the Emma Willard School in Troy and the American School in Switzerland.

Long-time acquaintance JoeAnn Whipple recalled her friend by telling the Courier: “Libby’s warm and loving spirit will be missed by all especially her brother Dr. John Huntington, her close friend Diane Jones, and her nieces Annette Emrys Huntington and Elvira Jones Huntington.”

Whipple also recounted how “Libby was a lover of animals. She loved all creatures especially her pet cats.”

The family has requested in lieu of flowers donations be sent to the Putnam Humane Society in Libby’s memory.

A memorial and celebration of Libby Huntington’s life is being scheduled for July.
