Joan V. Prisco, age 71, a lifelong resident of Brewster, died Thursday, May 23, 2013, with her family by her side, at Putnam Hospital Center in Carmel.
Joan was born July 26, 1941, in Brewster, to Joseph and Louise (Russell) Chirasello. She graduated from St. Lawrence O’Toole School in Brewster, and attended two years at St. Mary’s High School before graduating from Brewster High School in 1959. While in high school, Joan modeled for a local modeling agency. Her beauty was not only skin deep, as she was always considered to be a kind woman who cared deeply for her family.
On October 24, 1959, Joan married the love of her life, Nicholas Prisco at St. Lawrence O’Toole Church in Brewster. Joan and Nick proudly resided in Brewster and had three beautiful children together, Nicholas, Joseph and Denise. They were devoted and loving parents and were valued members of the Brewster community. Together they played an integral role in the founding of the youth football program. Joan and Nick enjoyed traveling together and living life to the fullest. All too soon, Nick Prisco died December 8, 1988. Joan was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother during this difficult time for her family.
Joan took great pride in her position as an administrative assistant for Putnam Hospital Center in Carmel for 42 years. She would often speak of her role in the hospital and her fellow employees with high regard.
Though her work was gratifying, her grandchildren were the center of her world. She was so very proud of each one. Joan enjoyed taking day trips with her family and friends. Most of all she will be remembered for her love and devotion to her family and friends.
Joan is survived by her three loving children, Nicholas Prisco II and his wife Luann of Jensen Beach, Fla., Joseph Prisco and his wife Joanne of Yorktown Heights, and Denise Reinhardt and her husband Stephen of Brewster; and two sisters, Mary Montanaro and Glady Fredricks, both of Brewster. Joan was blessed to have ten loving grandchildren and a cherished great grandchild, Jillian Dino and her husband Matthew Dino, of New York City, Allison Prisco and her son, Jason, of Fort Pierce, Fla., Joseph Prisco, Jr., of Brooklyn, Angelo Prisco and his wife Rachel of Chicago, Stephen Reinhardt, of Brewster, Joni and Jenna Prisco, both of Yorktown, Nicholas Prisco of Jensen Beach, Fla., and Jessica Reinhardt and John Reinhardt, both of Brewster.
