Vertith Fornasa, 98 years old, of Hopewell Junction, died peacefully at Dutchess Center for Rehabilitation in Pawling on Monday, June 17, 2013. She was born July 2, 1914, in Nelsonville, and was the daughter of the late Howard and Grace Monroe Zeliph.
Vertith had worked at Butterfield Hospital in Cold Spring and then was employed as a supervisor for Tuck Tape in Beacon until her retirement in 1985. She enjoyed gardening and especially loved animals.
Vertith was predeceased by her husband, Louis Fornasa on February 6, 1968. She is survived by her daughter, Rosemarie Hyatt and her husband, Edwin, of Hopewell Junction; two grandsons,
James and William Hyatt; and three great-grandchildren.
A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, June 22, at 10 a.m. at Shenandoah Cemetery, 511 Shenandoah Road, Hopewell Junction. Arrangements are under the direction of the Robert H. Auchmoody Funeral Home, 900 Rt. 82, Hopewell Junction.
The family requests in lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Putnam County Humane Society, the Dutchess County SPCA, or an animal shelter of your choice in Vertith’s memory.
