Ernest R. Finney

Ernest R. Finney, known by all as Bob, of Holmes, N.Y., died suddenly with his family by his side, Wednesday July 24, 2013 at his home. He was 77 years old.

Bob was born on April 19, 1936 in Patterson, son of the late Ernest R. and Florence (Savoy) Finney, Sr.  He was an operating engineer for over 40 years in New York before retiring.

Ernest married Dorothy on February 5, 1956, in Carmel. He was a member of Mount Carmel Baptist Church. Bob had lived in Mahopac, for 20 years before moving to Holmes, where he had lived since 1990.

Ernest enjoyed old Western movies and crime investigation shows. He enjoyed Florida. His biggest joy in life was his family. He never missed an important event in his children’s or his grandchildren’s lives. He lived life to the fullest and cherished his family and friends immensely.

In addition to his loving wife Dorothy, Bob is survived by his four sons, Kenneth and his wife Sue of Holmes, William and his wife Donna of Yorktown Heights, Michael and his wife Maria of Carmel, and Daniel and his wife Gail of Holmes; his seven grandchildren, Melissa, Colleen, Brittany, Scott, Jason, Stephanie and Joshua; one great grandson, Caleb; and his seven siblings, Henry, Fred, Mary, Marion, Alice, Dixie and Virginia. He was predeceased by two brothers, Chuckie and Raymond.

A funeral service will be celebrated on Saturday, July 27, at 11 a.m. at Beecher Funeral Home, Brewster. Interment will follow at Maple Avenue Cemetery, Patterson.

Family will receive friends at Beecher Funeral Home, 1 Putnam Avenue, Brewster, NY, www.beecherfuneralhome.com, on Friday, July 26, 2013 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Bob’s memory may be made to the American Heart Association and/or American Diabetes Association.
