Helen Marie Wald

Our dear Helen Marie Wald, 91, formerly of Mahopac, is now residing with our Heavenly Father. She passed at 6:18 p.m., Tuesday July 30, 2013.

She is survived by a brother, Carl Wald, of West Warwick R.I.; her two loving nieces, Bonnie (Greg) Brown of Reading Pa., and their children Garth (Becky), MacKenzie Brown, and Belinda (Robert) Riggs of Hamilton N.J.; and two grand nephews, Sean Morrissey of Saratoga Springs, and Michael Morrissey of Boston.

Helen was born in New York City to Karl and Johanna Wald on January 9, 1922. She started her career as a baby nurse, and then a dietician for the restaurant, The Bird Cage, located in White Plains. She then worked for the balance of her career as Head Dietician for The Dwight Engle School in Englewood, N.J.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Karl and Johanna Wald, former residents of Mahopac.

Helen’s passions were traveling the world, preparing creative feasts, knitting afghans for loved ones and charities, reading, playing card games, and spending time with her family and close friends. Helen’s life will be honored with a private memorial.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the members of the VNA of NJ Hospice and Crestwood Manor Health care facility, Whiting N.J. We thank God for the gift of Helen’s life and the blessing of the time we spent with her.
