William Milton Reynolds Sr.

William Milton Reynolds Sr. of Carmel was born September 27, 1927, in Funston, Georgia to W. Milton Reynolds and Seley Bryant. He was one of 16 children. He died October 21, 2013, at home peacefully at 86.

He is survived by his wife Carminella Josephine Vittorio, whom he met in 1953 in New Jersey and married January 27, 1957, in Peapack, N.J. He is also survived by his four children, Philomena Miller daughter, and husband D. Mark Miller of Danbury, Marilyn Reynolds (Adams), daughter of Danbury, Doris Tobin daughter, and husband Kevin Tobin of Poughquag,, and William M Reynolds Jr. of Pawling; his 10 grandchildren Deanna and Nicole Adams, David and Jessica Miller, Colleen and Kimberly Tobin and William III, Katie, Lauren and Christopher Reynolds; and one great-grandchild, Adaliah Miller. He is also survived by his brothers E. Talmadge Reynolds, of Pinellas Park, Fla., R.J. Reynolds and Dallas Reynolds, both of Ga. and 3 sisters, Myrtice Gray, of Camilla Ga., Odessa Shiver of Haleyville, Al., and EddieMae Cheek of Lawrenceville, Ga.; and many nieces and nephews.

He served in the Army of the United States In 1949 to 1951 and then in the United States Air Force from 1951 to 1953 during the Korean War. He was an avid fisherman and deer hunter in his day. He started his married life in Mount Kisco and raised his family in Carmel, NY. He was known as the Rebel from Georgia all through the town. He was a Carpenter by trade in his early years and started his own business, Bill Reynolds Garage Doors in 1965 in Carmel, which became Bill Reynolds & Son Garage Doors in 1966. He was a member of the Carmel Knights of Columbus. He truly enjoyed his cigarettes, having coffee at George’s Place and playing cards with his friends. Due to health issues he was forced to retire in the early 1990s. His garden became his hobby, farmer Bill. He was a true friend and neighbor too many, his friends and neighbors meant the world to him. He will truly be missed by many.

Services will be held at Cargain Funeral Home on, Friday October 25th, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, at 10 a.m. at St James the Apostle in Carmel. Family and friends may gather after Mass at George’s Place in Carmel. The cemetery service will be at a later date.

His favorite saying was “you can’t eat flowers or cards,” so in lieu of flowers, donations in memory of William M.
