Charles Henry Johansen, Sr.

Charles Henry Johansen, Sr., 88, of Carmel, passed away on November 24, 2013, at Putnam Hospital Center. Mr. Johansen was born on January 2, 1925, to George and Elizabeth (Schwartz) Johansen in Mt. Vernon, NY. During World War II, he proudly served his country with the U.S. Army.

On January 18, 1948, he married Adele Barbara Schlöer at Holy Rosary R.C. Church in the Bronx. Mr. Johansen was very active in his community, and was a member of the following; VFW, American Legion, Disabled American Veterans and Putnam County Joint Veterans.

Mr. Johansen worked as a Nuclear Technician for Gulf United in Pawling, and he also worked as an Assistant Engineer for Metro North at Grand Central Terminal.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Adele, his three loving children; Charles Henry Johansen, Jr., Ellen Jame and James John Johansen, eight adoring grandchildren and four wonderful great-grandchildren.

A memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, November 30, 2013, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of the Lake Church, 1 Noonan Drive, Carmel.
