It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, Carol Frances Arnold on January 29, 2020, at age 79.
Carol was born on July 20, 1940, in Mount Kisco, NY to Francis and Eileen (Fleming) Dolan. On August 18, 1962, she married husband Robert Arnold at Saint Francis of Assisi Church in Mount Kisco. They were married for 57 years, and had three children: Melissa, Noreen and Matthew.
She received her Bachelor’s degree in English from Good Counsel College of White Plains, NY (now Pace University) and later earned a Master’s degree in Education from Western Connecticut State University. After teaching for a few years in the Catholic school system, she went on to work in the editorial department at Grolier Enterprises, Inc., in Danbury, CT. She spent the last 10 years of her career as a case worker for Putnam County Department of Social Services.
Carol was an avid reader. She loved spending time with family. She had a strong faith in God and was a member of St. James the Apostle Church in Carmel, NY.
She loved traveling to places both near and far. Special spots included Cape Cod, Bermuda, Ireland, Italy and France. Another travel highlight was an annual visit to The Red Lion Inn in Stockbridge, Massachusetts every December.
Carol is survived by her husband Robert, her children Melissa Della Posta (Joseph) of Dewitt, NY, Noreen Gill of East Greenbush, NY, and Matthew Arnold of Carmel, NY, and seven grandchildren: Natalie, Daniel, and Ethan Della Posta, Nyla and Emma Gill, and Hannah and Jacob Arnold. She was predeceased by a sister Diane Gorman. Other surviving family members include two sisters Barbara Shinn (Steve) of Wilmington, NC, and Nancy (Jerry) Jorgensen of San Diego, CA, and a brother Stephen Dolan (Mary Anne) of Earlville, NY.
Calling hours were held on Friday, January 31 from 2:00 – 4:00 PM and 7:00 – 9:00 PM at the Cargain Funeral Home, Inc., 10 Fowler Avenue, Carmel, NY 10512.
A Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate Carol’s life took place at 10:00 AM February 1, 2020, at St. James the Apostle Church, 14 Gleneida Avenue, Carmel, NY. Interment followed the mass at Raymond Hill Cemetery in Carmel.
