Edward Kieran Curry


 

 

Edward Kieran Curry, 89, a longtime resident of Carmel, NY, passed away on August 21, 2021, following a lengthy illness.

Born in 1932 in Brooklyn, New York, he was the cherished son of Theresa Maloney and John Curry. On June 30, 1951, he married the love of his life, Alice Jean (Patricia) Fant. Together, they settled in Brooklyn, NY and later, moved to Carmel, NY to raise their five wonderful children, Deborah (Joseph) Piacente, John (Kathleen) Curry, Dennis (Maureen) Curry, Eileen (Kevin) Kelly and Kevin Curry.

Ed, or Kieran as he was often called, was a life-long Teamster 456 member. He retired after many years at the Grand Union Warehouse in Mt. Kisco, NY. He was the ultimate Irish gentleman and his kindness and love of his family and friends was endless. Family was the most important thing to Kieran. He was a talented and gifted builder and, wanting his children and their families close, he built all his children’s homes. He enjoyed baseball and was a loyal Brooklyn Dodgers fan.

He will be missed beyond measure by all who knew and loved him.

Edward is predeceased by his beloved wife Alice who passed away in 2007. His brother, Donnie Curry and sister, Theresa Forys, also predeceased him. His dear children, Deborah (Joseph) Piacente, John (Kathleen) Curry, Dennis (Maureen) Curry, Eileen (Kevin) Kelly and Kevin Curry all survive him. Also surviving Edward is his brother Sean Curry, his 19 adoring grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, August 25, 2021, from 3:00 P.M., to 7:00 P.M., at the Cargain Funeral Homes, Inc., 10 Fowler Avenue, Carmel, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate and honor Edward’s life took place Thursday, August 26, 2021 at 10 A.M., St. James the Apostle Church, 14 Gleneida Avenue, Carmel, NY. Following the Mass, he was brought to his final resting place, together again beside Alice (2007), at Raymond Hill Cemetery in Carmel, NY.
