Eugene “Gene” Richard Blau, age 80, of Crossville, TN passed away September 1, 2020, after a long illness. He was born March 7, 1940, in Brooklyn, NY, the son of David and Mollie (Schlefstein) Blau.
He was a graduate of Carmel Central School and received his Pharmacy degree from Fordham University. He was the long-time owner/operator of Lake Carmel Pharmacy in Carmel, from which he retired in 2005. He was an avid fisherman and loved taking his family and friends boating and fishing. He was also a licensed pilot and enjoyed flying. After his retirement, he and his wife Evelyn (“Dean”) moved to Crossville, leaving behind their water activities and taking up new hobbies of golfing, RVing and spending time with new friends. Gene was a member of the Fairfield Glade Sportsman’s Club and enjoyed competitive pistol shooting.
Eugene was a wellknown and respected businessman who had many friends both in New York and Crossville. He delighted people with his humor and his kindness.
He is survived by his son, Jeffrey Blau, and his wife Carol of Atlanta, GA; and daughter, Robyn Eichenholz, of Orlando, FL; grandchildren Jonathan Eichenholz and Ella Eichenholz; and stepgrandchildren Anthony Vilegas and Nicole Vilegas.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Evelyn Dean Blau and step-sons Scott Vilegas and Glenn Vilegas.
A small graveside service with family will be held at Sharon Gardens, Valhalla, New York.
